Kunze and Thorburn organizes workshop on gender equality
Astrid Kunze at the Department of Economics and Karin Thorburn at the Department of Finance are organizing a workshop on "Gender, wages and career" in Stockholm on Tuesday November 19.
15.11.2013 - Lisbeth Heilund
The papers presented at the workshop will be part of an anthology edited by Thorburn and Kunze. The work is commissioned by the Delegation for Gender Equality in Working Life, appointed by the Swedish Government. Thorburn was earlier doing a presentation for a Swedish "thin tank" on how the gender equality in Norwegian boards were impacting the value in businesses.
- I wanted Astrid Kunze to organize the workshop together with me, says Thorburn. She is a labour market researcher, and she knows a lot about labour economics and gender equality.
By giving an overview of recent empirical evidence on Sweden, the objective is to stimulate discussion and initiatives promoting gender equality in working life. The report will cover questions on the gender wage gap, gender segregation in the labor market, the wage structure and earnings profiles at different stages of the career, gender discrimination in recruitment and women in top positions.
The Delegation for Gender Equality in Working Life will present their results in autumn 2014.
