Monday 12th of August will be the 77th time the traditional matriculation ceremony takes place. On the program are speeches from among others Rector Frøystein Gjesdal, as well as the distribution of the award for outstanding teaching efforts by Deputy Rector Sunniva Whittaker and entertainment from the choirs Optimum and Sangria. In addition Vice Rector Helge Thorbjørnsen will be hand out doctoral diplomas.

This year's main speaker will be County Governor Lars Sponheim.

Simultaneously as the last preparations for the matriculation ceremony are being made, the preparatory course in mathematics for new bachelor students is taking place in Aud. Max. Among the new students at the course are Petter Skjærvø (21), Lars Sunde (23), Øyvind Evenrud (18) and Nina Jansen Wiik (22).

- NHH offers a good education which gives many unique possibilities, answers Skjærvø when asked why he applied for NHH. He is met with agreement from his fellow students.

The new students (from the left) Petter Skjærvø, Nina Jansen Wiik, Øyvind Evenrud, and Lars Sunde are looking forward to the start of the semester.

- I applied to NHH because I am interested in the social science, especially economics. The program at NHH covers these interests well, adds Sunde.

On Monday all the new students will shake the Rector or Deputy Rectors hand and receive their certificate of matriculation, before taking part in the Student Associations Welcome Week. So far their impressions of NHH have been positive, especially of the New Wing.

- There are many useful solutions in the building, and I look forward to using it, says Evenrud.

Wiik on the other hand has a more concise answer:

- It's a splendid building!

The matriculation ceremony for bachelor students takes place from 10 to 12, while the master ceremony is from 14 to 15. The matriculation ceremony for exchange students takes place on Friday the 16th of August at 16.
