Auditing Unveiled

Auditing scandals and leadership challenges are on the agenda when the CEO's of the Norwegian branches of the auditing giants PwC and Ernst and Young meet researchers at NHH Forum Tuesday 4 September.

NHH Forum is a meeting place where top executives from major corporations are invited to discuss topics of common interest with faculty and students at NHH.

This year's forum is a first, as NHH has invited two competing companies to participate.

Håvard S Abrahamsen and Erik Mamelund, CEOs of the Norwegian branches of world leading auditing firms PwC and Ernst & Young, will share their own experiences and talk about the leadership challenges in creating a successful team.

The second subject on the agenda is auditing scandals, of which there have been several in latter decades. What was the auditor thinking? Was he even there? PwC CEO Abrahamsen and Head of Auditing at E & Y, Finn Kinserdal, debate these and other questions from different perspectives.

NHH's faculty is represented by professors William F. Messier and Karen Modesta Olsen.

Messier holds the Kenneth and Tracy Knauss Endowed Chair in Accounting at Lee Business School, University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is also Adjunct Professor of Auditing at NHH's Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. This position is an endowed professorship financed by PwC. Professor Messier was appointed Honorary Doctor at NHHin 2011.

Karen Modesta Olsen is professor of Human Resource Management at The Department of Strategy and Management.

Professor Alexander W. Cappelen from The Department of Economics will chair the debate.
