Department of Economics Highly Regarded

NHH's Department of Economics came in 6th place when the Financial Times ranked the ten best schools in the economics category. "We are not surprised that we rank among the best," said a proud professor Øystein Thøgersen.

The Financial Times ranking is based on observations from graduated candidates from the different business schools and universities considered for the evaluation.

As mentioned above, NHH's Department of Economics came in 6th place. The top three positions went to (1) London School of Economics, (2) Manheim Business School and (3) Warsaw Business School.

Well Deserved
The Department of Economics is not surprised by their results in the Financial Times ranking.

"We are proud enough to say that this is well deserved," said Thøgersen, who added that the Department of Economics' research is better now than it has been for a long time.

"We must return to Agnar Sandmo and Jan Mossin's most active periods in the 1970's in order to find similar high-quality results. We have recently had numerous publications in top journals and periodicals like the American Economic Review and equivalents," explained professor Thøgersen.

He also explained that they receive positive feedback in regards to education and teaching on all levels. Additionally, they have observed that the students obtain employment at top companies in economics and business.

"An interesting observation is that good research doesn't come at the expense of good teaching. Rather on the contrary," said Thøgersen.
