28.05.2008 - Red.
Nordic Studies will be one of the focus areas but all other topics are also relevant. Support may also be given to research visits to Fudan University by researchers from our Nordic member universities. This support will be available for Nordic professors and post doc researchers. The main purpose of the research platform is to promote research of mutual interest for both Chinese and Nordic researchers.
The costs of the research visits will be divided between the home university, the host university and the Nordic Centre. The home university will be responsible for the visiting researcher's salary during the visit and travel costs. The host university will provide office space and research facilities for the visiting researcher and assist in finding accommodation during the visit. The Nordic Centre will pay the visiting researcher an allowance to cover accommodation and living costs. The amount of the allowance will be 375 Euros per week for Fudan University researchers visiting Nordic universities, and 250 Euros per week for Nordic researchers visiting Fudan University.
The duration of the visits shall be 2-4 weeks. Nordic Centre support will be available for 4 Chinese researchers visiting the Nordic countries and 4 Nordic researchers visiting Shanghai annually. The researchers should establish contacts with the host university independently and are primarily responsible for the arrangements of their stay themselves.
Applications for the year 1 October 2008 - 1 October 2009 should be submitted to the Nordic Centre Programme Director Tone Helene Aarvik by 1 October 2008. If necessary, members of the Nordic Centre Board will be consulted during the selection process. The final decision on the selection of candidates will be taken in October 2008.
The applications should contain
• the approval and recommendation of the home university for the visit
• an invitation and recommendation from the host university
• the applicant's motivation for the visit including the purpose of the visit and expected results (max. 2 pages)
Applications will be evaluated based on the purpose of the visit and its expected results. Among the criteria to be used in evaluating the applications will be
• potential for long-term cooperation
• benefits for Sino-Nordic cooperation and for the Nordic Centre
Upon completion of the visit, the visiting researchers will be required to submit a short written report of their visit to the Nordic Centre describing the content and results of their visit.
Please write the application in English. The application should be sent to tonehelene@nordiccentre.org and nordiccentre@gmail.com; a confirmation will be sent as soon as the application has been received.
