Norwegians: Beautiful and strange

What do characterize Norwegians? Are they warm and welcoming, or cold and reserved? Julien S. Bourrelle, PhD Candidate from NTNU has been invited to NHH to talk about Norwegian social norms and how Norwegians socialize in an international business context.

17.03.2014 - Ed.

NHH's International Career Centre is co-hosting a seminar with the MEBA Council and AIESEC. Prorector Sunniva Whittaker will open the event.

The answer depends on cultural perceptions and expectations. Should Norwegians adapt their behaviours to make foreigners feel more welcome, or should foreigners be thought how to connect with Norwegians within the local social norms? What makes Norway so different, and how do foreigners and Norwegians need to adapt in order to succeed in a globalized world?

In 2013 Julien founded MONDÅ to address diversity and internationalization issues in Norway and has recently gotten acclaim from the Crown Prince for his work done to promote internationalization in Norway. His website (www.monda.no) also has some video clips of his seminars and comic illustrations related to his work.

Norwegians will get an entertaining eye-opener on themselves, while foreigners will better understand how to interact with Norwegians.
