Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (Scancor) at Stanford has been an important resource for Norwegian and Scandinavian organization researchers since 1989.

The centre was established as a result of a collaboration between Jim March and Johan P. Olsen. Professor Walter Powell, one of the world's leading organization researchers, led the centre from 1999.

In July 2010 Mitchell Stevens became Professor Powell's successor as director.

Scancor offers opportunities for longer and shorter visiting stays and have a limited number of office spaces available for visiting researchers.

The centre is a unique resource that should be used frequently by Norwegian researchers. In addition to opportunities for permanent office space, the visiting researchers are expected to participate actively in the permanent research seminars at the centre.

Guest researchers also have opportunities to take advantage of the many seminars and lectures that are offered, and to establish contact with leading organizational and political scientists at Stanford.

Applications from doctoral students and established researchers are welcomed.

Application deadlines:

1 December 2012 for stays September -December 2013

1 April 2013 for stays January-June 2014

1 September 2013 for stays June -August 2014

Applications should be sent electronically to

Scancor Alumni Network Grants program

(due 1 December)

To encourage ongoing collaborations among its postdoctoral fellows, other alumni, and Stanford faculty, the Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (Scancor) is pleased to announce its Alumni Network Grants program.

Alumni Network Grants provide funds to support face-to-face meetings for groups of scholars who are engaged in, or seeking to develop, collaborative research.

The Network Grants are premised on three ideas: that collaboration is intellectually generative; that transnational collaboration fosters novel, cosmopolitan scholarship; and that in-person exchanges are important components of any distributed enterprise.

The Alumni Network Grants are intended to build upon and extend SCANCOR's rich tradition of international, interdisciplinary, and intergenerational collaborative research.

Proposed collaborations must be among at least three researchers, representing at least two universities or research institutes.

At least one collaborator must be a Scancor postdoctoral fellow, Scholar, alumnus, or Stanford University faculty member.

Alumni Network Grants provide between $1500 - $7000 USD to support travel and accommodation costs associated with convening face-to-face meetings.

Grants are payable upon submission of Progress Memos, which are intended to serve as vehicles for ongoing collaboration (see below).

Original receipts for costs are required for award payouts, which take the form of reimbursement.

Application deadline: 1 December 2012

Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (Scancor) at Stanford University invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship beginning 1 September 2013.

The fellowships are open for high-quality organizations researchers from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden who work in the fields of management, education, sociology, political science, and the other social sciences.

We especially welcome applications from researchers working on the following topics: organizational learning and design, user-driven innovation, forms of open innovation, sustainability and clean technologies, globalization, public-private interfaces, welfare reform, democracy and equality, higher education, and the knowledge society.

In 2013, our expectation is that we will award four fellowships.

Each fellow will be affiliated with a disciplinary department or school at Stanford University, and with Scancor.

The postdoctoral fellowship provides Nordic scholars with the opportunity to learn new topics and skills, and work closely with a Stanford faculty member, while participating in SCANCOR activities.

Although there will be ample time for the fellows to pursue their current lines of scholarship, the expectation is that they will also collaborate with Stanford scholars and pursue research in tandem with their faculty sponsors.

Application deadline: 1 February, 2013
