NHH's Bachelor programme in Economics and Business Administration (the siviløkonom programme) has been the most popular study programme in the country for many years, regardless of discipline. And this year is no exception. A total of 2,301 applicants have made NHH their first choice, and they will be competing for around 450 places.
That is an increase of nine per cent from last year, which means that there are 5.2 first-choice applicants per place.
'These are very good figures for NHH, and they confirm our strong position as the preferred economics programme in the country,' says Rector Jan I Haaland.
Another welcome piece of news for NHH is that the focus on increasing the proportion of women continues to bear fruit. The proportion of female applicants has been just below 40 per cent over the last few years. This year, 42 per cent of the applicants were women.
'It is nice to see the proportion of women continuing to rise. This shows that our targeted work is paying off,' says Rector Haaland.
Chair of the NHHS Student Union, Saliba Andreas Korkunc, is also pleased that the school is still attracting a high number of applicants.
'This is great news, and it is good to see that so many people want to start studying here. The reason why NHH continues to lead the application statistics is probably the unique combination of a solid academic platform, an extraordinarily active student environment, and excellent, varied job opportunities after graduation,' he tells Paraplyen.
The total number of applicants for higher education in Norway has also increased, by 6.6 per cent. In all, 115,764 applicants have registered with Samordna opptak.
