Vacancy: Post-doc position

The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration invites applications for a 2 year post-doc position in the Department of Finance and Management Science.

The position has no teaching obligations. A successful applicant will be doing research in a joint project between Mohn-Sverdrup Center (MSC) / Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC) and The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH).

NHH seeks a post-doc for the assimilation of fish stocks data into a nonlinear bio-economic model. The candidate will use a nonlinear model of economic and biologic interactions and estimations of a fish stock from catches. He/she will evaluate the Ensemble Kalman Smoother against more general Markov Chain approximation methods for the estimation of fish stocks. The non-linear model, observations and the Monte Carlo methods have already been developed. The objective is to help evaluating and improving methods for fisheries management, and quota determination.

The post-doc is funded by a grant from the Research Council of Norway through the project "Forecasting Non-linear systems with the EnKF and related methods" starting in January 2009 for a duration of 2 years.

Candidates should hold a PhD, in preferable applied mathematics, computational economics or another field with strong emphasis on computational aspects. In the event of equivalent qualifications, female applicants will be given preference.

Emphasis will be placed on the applicant's research profile and ability to contribute to the research project.
