CEMS students rank NHH top

Norges Handelshøyskole (NHH) shared the top spot in a survey where CEMS students evaluated universities that they had studied at. For the 2006-2007 academic year, NHH tied for first place with the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Every year, CEMS students evaluate the organization of the CEMS Master in International Management (MIM) program, the core course selection, the elective course selection, information and other elements at the various universities. NHH received the highest rank in this evaluation this year.

The students also evaluate the subjects and content of every core course they have taken, as well as the overall quality of the teaching. NHH is ranked highly in this evaluation as well.

Attractive Students
"The questions in the survey are based on the opinions of students taking the CEMS MIM program and thereby the overall experience of how the students regard the program at their respective institution," explains Tor Aase Johannessen, the Academic Director of CEMS at NHH.

In two weeks Proctor & Gamble will be coming to Bergen and to NHH to hold a "Skills Seminar" on brand management for the CEMS students. Proctor & Gamble has two main goals for their visit.

"First of all, they would like to market themselves through exciting and relevant cases, and subsequently, they would like to establish contact with the students concerning potential future employment. They have openly said that they only recruit NHH's CEMS students in Norway," explains Tor Aase Johannessen, who adds that this autumn's case deals with Hugo Boss.

Top of the Class
Last year NHH was also evaluated by the CEMS Peer Review process, which involves a thorough examination of all of the activities that each institution offers within the CEMS MIM program. All of the member universities have been through this "quality check" within the past 2 years.

"NHH has done well in the evaluation and we get a strong impression that the school was one of the best students in the class. This is a huge inspiration for those of us who work with CEMS at NHH, and even more so for those who teach on the program."

"This is the fifth year running since the CEMS MIM program was established and we are on the right track," states a proud Tor Aase Johannessen. "In the coming years, we are expecting several exciting things to occur within the CEMS system, for example, the globalization of CEMS. We also expect that the total number of CEMS students for the entire CEMS network will gradually rise to around 1000 students by the year 2010. At NHH, the goal is to gain approximately 50 CEMS students per year," explains Aase Johannessen to Paraplyen.
