FIBE conference opened

Finance and macroeconomics is the theme for the 200 economics and business researchers gathered together for the annual FIBE conference at NHH on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th January. FIBE has been established as the central meeting place for the academic community within the field of business administration in Norway.

The conference takes up themes at the intersection of financial economics and macroeconomics, and speakers include Nobel Prize winner Professor Finn E. Kydland and Knut N. Kjær, director of the Norwegian state pension fund.

The conference was opened on Thursday 4th January at 10.00 in the Dag Coward auditorium by NHH Rector Jan I. Haaland. Here is a glimpse of the programme for the conference:

Thursday 10.15-11.15:
Nobel Prize winner Finn E. Kydland (University of California Santa Barbara/NHH)
"Central bank policy in the light of modern macroeconomic theory"

Thursday 11.15-11.45:
Knut N. Kjær (Director, Norges Bank Investment Management)
"CAPM, oil economics and the oil fund "

Thursday 17.00-18.00:
Professor Rajnish Mehra (University of California)
"The Equity Premium: Why is it a Puzzle?"

Friday 11.45-12.15:
Hege Sjo (Hermes Investment Management Ltd)
"Corporate governance in Europe: Pension fund from passive index manager to active owner - does it create increased value?"
