Position of research scholar in fishery economics

The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration invites applications for the position of research scholar at the Department of Economics.

The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration was founded in 1936 and is today the country's leading research environment within the fields of economics and business administration. The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration is the Norwegian member of the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS).

Today, the institution has over 2800 full-time students and more than 300 staff. NHH has a close relationship with two foundations: the Administrative Research Institute (AFF) and the Institute for Research in Economics and Business Administration (SNF). Together these three institutions form a large scientific and administrative environment with more than 500 staff.

The position is a part of a strategic research program at the Centre of Fisheries Economics. It is required that the topic for the Ph.D. thesis falls within the fields defined by this research program. These fields are management of shared fish stocks and economic analysis of fisheries regulations (including studies of productivity). The application should include a short summary of the proposed thesis topic.

The appointment presupposes admission to the doctoral program at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. In event of equivalent qualifications, female applicants will be given preference.

Applicants are required to hold the degree of cand.merc or cand.oecon from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration or an equivalent degree relevant to the planned area of specialization in the doctoral program and to the work on the doctoral thesis. Students who are currently enrolled in the cand.merc/cand.oecon program and who are completing their degree this semester with the intention of starting the doctoral program in autumn 2004, are also invited to apply. For external candidates, a Master of Science degree or its equivalent is required, including at least 18 months of studies within the fields of economics and business administration. Candidates with qualifications obtained abroad must send documentation of GMAT- and GRE-scores to NHH.

Research scholars are required to take part in the work of the department they are connected to, after further agreement with the department. The work consists of 25 % of a full position.

The position has the code 1017. Salary will be according to the State salary scale 37 (currently Gross NOK 276.100, corresponding to approximately 31,750). From the salary a 2 % deduction will be made as pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. The application must be written on a specific form provided for that purpose.
