Pedagogical day 2012: Teaching large groups

Pedagogical day 2012

NHH invites to Pedagogical day 2012 Wednesday 14 November. The main topic is Teaching large groups. Please sign up by Monday 12 November.

05.11.2012 - Ed.

The aim with Pedagogical day is to inspire lecturers at NHH and give insight into how other lecturers think.

The main speaker will be Associate professor Arne Skodvin from the Department of Educational Research, Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Oslo.

Skodvin is widely known as an accomplished public speaker and author. Among his publications is last year's "Forelesnings kunst" ("The Art of the Lecture" ) which looks at the lecture in context of the academic history of ideas and praxis, raisings questions of the lecture's function and position in education today.

In addition to Skodvin, Professor Lars Mathiesen and Assistant Professor Lars Jacob Tynes Pedersen will contribute their experiences in teaching at NHH.

Professor Mathiesen will be sharing his experience with teaching the course "SAM020 Videregående mikroøkonomi / Advanced microeconomics". In the autumn of 2011 these lectures were filmed and put on the course's homepage on It's Learning.

Mathiesen will be addressing the issue of whether this increased the learning outcomes for his students - both last autumn and the autumn of 2012.

One of Mathiesen's lectures is available for viewing on nhh.no

Assistant Professor Lars Jacob Tynes Pedersen will discuss the challenges involved with the large increase in students enrolled in the course "VOA021 Frontiers of Business Ethics: Moral Choice in Business Practice". Lars' focus will be "When small groups grow - what is retained and what is lost?"

Dean Kjetil Bjorvatn and Dean Kenneth Fjell will open and close the proceedings.

Lunch will be served from 12:15
