In collaboration with the University of Oslo, the University of Bergen, NTNU, and the University of Tromsø; NHH is receiving economic support to become one of the hosts for the national researcher schools. In total, 115 million kroner were granted.

"I am very happy that we have received the funding," says Anna Mette Fuglseth, Dean for PhD education at NHH. "Now it is important to deliver in accordance with our application," she says to Paraplyen.

Fuglseth together with research coordinator Bjarte Grønner have been working to secure support for NHH to pursue the researcher school. Now work has begun with implementation of the plans in accordance with the application.

Effective instrument

"The researcher school will increase the quality of doctoral education in Norway in these subjects as well as stimulate research. We will provide a significant lift to doctoral education in Norway by combining and further developing national resources together with leading international researchers, colleges and universities. 14 institutions have thus far entered into a binding collaboration in doctoral education. Furthermore, I see the network as an effective instrument for fortifying research within the economic-administrative subject areas in general. There is a big need for more PhD students in our field. Colleges, universities, public administration and businesses need such competence. We must awaken the interest for a research career within students, the challenge is to increase both the quality and the quantity," said Fuglseth in NHH's annual report for 2007.

The Research Council says that the level of applicants has generally been high, and has emphasized the quality of the applicant institution's plans and their account for pedagogic and organizational structure.
