New research scholars

Several new research scholars have found their way to NHH this autumn. In total nine new researchers have begun at NHH, all of them men.

Paraplyen gathered together five of the new research scholars for a photo session. Each of these young researchers are employed by NHH while working towards their PhD. Pictured from left to right are: Ove Rein Hetland, Lars Ivar H. Berge, Peter Molnàr, Einar Bakke and Michal Zdenek.

Finance and Management science
Ove Rein Hetland will be working on asset pricing. He has been appointed to the Department of Finance and Management Science, where his supervisor is Jørgen Haug.

One of the international recruits is Peter Molnàr, who is also appointed to the Department of Finance and Management Science. Peter is interested in corporate finance and will be supervised by Kjell Nyborg.

Einar Bakke is the third new recruit to the Department of Finance and Management Science. Einar will be working with corporate and entrepreneurial finance, and will also be surpervised by Kjell Nyborg.

Economics
Lars Ivar H. Berge will be about researching international economics and political economy at the Department of Economics, where his supervisor will be Victor D. Norman.

Michal Zdenek and Karl Ove Aarbu have also been employed at the Department of Economics. Zdenek, who comes from the Czech Republic, will be working with international macroeconomics under the supervision of Øystein Thøgersen.

Karl Ove Aarbu is interested in health insurance and risk. He comes from the leading Scandinavian insurance company Tryg Vesta, where he was responsible for their social science research. Karl Ove has also worked in the Norwegian Ministry of Finance and the reasearch department of Statistics Norway. Fred Schroyen is his supervisor at NHH.

Accounting, Auditing and Law
Jonas Gaudernack was appointed as research scholar on the first of August, and became the first person to receive the new scholarship from The Norwegian Institute of Public Accountants (DnR) and NHH for researchers working with auditing. Gaudernack is interested in examining how auditors assess senior managements overall level of internal control and risk management. His supervisor is Aasmund Eilifsen in the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law.

Ken Blindheim is also appointed to the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. He is interested in strategic financial management and is supervised by Trond Bjørnenak.

Strategy and Managment
At the Department of Strategy and Managment we find Vladislav Zvontsov from Russia. He is working with entrepreneurship and a comparative analysis of Norway and Russia.

When it comes to female recruits, we are happy to find a new research scholar among the externally financed PhD-students. Elin Bolann was appointed in May and has her office at the Department of Strategy and Management, with Magne Supphellen as her supervisor. Elin Bolann is working on the project Merkevaren Vestlandet, which is examing the West Norway brand. The project is financed by The Research Council of Norway (NFR), local government, and the business sector.

Jarle Bastesen is also working at the Department of Strategy and Management on a project partly financed by NFR. The project looks at regional growth, innovation and learning, and Eirik Vatne is Jarle's supervisor.
