New Research Scholars

Five new Research Scholars are appointed at NHH, with a strong international representation and a high percentage of women marking the group out.

Three of five new Research Scholars at NHH are women, Heidi Buverud, Na Zhou and Lian Xiao. Xiao og Zhou are Chinese in origin, but have Master degrees from University of Oslo and NHH (MIB) respectively.

Each of the Research Scholars is employed by NHH while working towards their PhD.

Na Zhou is appointed to the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law and is working on a project called Management Science-Performance Management and Business Analysis. Her supervisor is Professor Trond Olsen.

Lian Xiao is interested in the interaction of asset pricing theory and macroeconomics and issues such as: what are the real factors that drive asset returns fluctuate over time, and how macro data could be used to explain and forecast the movement of asset prices. Xiao is appointed to the Department of Finance and Management Science, and her supervisor is Associate Professor Jørgen Haug.

Sturla Kvamsdal is a Research Scholar at the Department of Economics and is working on a research project connected to the analysis of multivariable models in the management of fisheries. His supervisor is Professor Rögnvaldur Hannesson.

Heidi Buverud is appointed to the Department of Strategy and Management, with Professor Anna Mette Fuglseth as her supervisor. The aim of her research project is to enhance the understanding of whether and how Enterprise Resources Planning systems (ERP systems) can increase the effectiveness of business organisations.

Sigbjørn Birkeland
In addition, Sigbjørn Birkeland is appointed to the Department of Economics with Professor Bertil Tungodden as his supervisor. The project will through experiments study the structure of fairness norms and to what extent people are motivated by these norms, and how that may influence economic transactions.
